A Future Glimpse

When we close our eyes, we have a mind’s eye picture of our future family.  Some pieces of the picture include:

  • Because we know that some or all of our children will be adopted, we want them to know about their heritage.  We want them to know as much as possible about their parents and where they are from.  We want them to know that their parents love them and we want them to understand the great sacrifice that was made placing them for adoption.  We also want them to know how much we love them and what a blessing it is to be their parents through adoption.
  • We want to teach our children to love Jesus Christ and to follow His example.  We plan on raising them in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  We would have hopes that they choose to be life-long members of this church; however, we would respect their decision if they chose not to be members of this church.  We appreciate that our parents allowed us to chose for ourselves and we know that they would have loved us whatever our decision.  We plan to show that same love.
  • Reading together!  Rob and I love to read and we want our children to love good books.  We want them to learn and to develop their imaginations through reading.
  • Travelling together!  We want our children to experience the world!  We want them to see different places and different cultures.  We want our children to see how other people in this beautiful world live and to have an appreciation and love for their fellow men.
  • Sharing interests! We want to share those interests we love with our children and to discover new interests through those things that our children discover and love.
  • Movie nights!  We love movies and snuggling under blankets with a yummy treat to watch a movie at home or going to the movies!
  • Spending time outdoors! Camping!
  • Enjoying time with family! We love our families and we want our children to be close to their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins!  Rob and I have so many wonderful memories with our extended family and want the same for our children.
  • Developing talents:  We want our children to discover their natural talents.  We also want them to develop those talents that they are interested in developing.  We want to teach them to use their talents to bless the lives of others.
  • Having memorable Christmases! Rob and I love Christmas! It’s our favorite time of year.  We love decorating, watching Christmas movies, reading Christmas stories, looking at Christmas lights, giving presents, spending time with family, eating good food, and serving others during this time of year.  We both have amazing memories of Christmas as children and we want our children to experience the magic that we felt.
  • We want our children to really enjoy childhood!  We want them to make good friends, play outside, use their imaginations to play games, enjoy their toys, go to fun places and do fun activities.  Most importantly, we want them to have positive memories of their childhood!
  • We want to provide for our family to the best of our ability, even if it means sacrificing our personal wants to provide for our children and to give them the experiences we desire for them to have in their lives.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
